We’re lucky to be tucked away in the peaceful Mayenne countryside, surrounded by quiet lanes, historic villages, and beautiful walking routes — and we’ve loved getting to know the area over the past few years.
Whether you're in the mood for a cycle ride, a long lunch, a hike through the woods or a day trip to the coast, there’s so much to discover nearby. Here are some of the places we’ve enjoyed most — the ones we go back to again and again, and always recommend to visiting friends.
Mont Saint Michel
It’s iconic for a reason — a must-see in this part of France. No matter how many times we go, it still takes our breath away..
Saint-Malo
When we fancy sea air, good food, and a bit of shopping, we head to Saint-Malo. It’s perfect for a day on the coast.
Fontaine-Daniel
One of the first places we came across when house hunting here. It’s beautiful for a walk, a relaxed lunch — or something special at Michelin-starred La Forge
Fosse Arthour
One of our favourite places to hike — woodland, rivers, dramatic cliffs, and the auberge waiting for you at the end for a well-earned drink.
Domfront
A charming medieval town we love to visit for a drink at Le Central and a bit of people-watching. There are also great cycle routes starting from here.

Crêperie du Menhir, Gorron
A cosy, friendly crêperie in the centre of Gorron, known for its tasty galettes, warm service, and great value. Booking is recommended, especially at weekends.
Boulangerie Joly, Levare
Our local village bakery serving fresh bread, crisp pastries and delicious homemade tarts.
Le Petit Monde, Fontaine-Daniel
A cosy, ethical crêperie and craft brasserie offering seasonal, homemade dishes with local organic produce, served indoors or on a shaded terrace.
Restaurant Le Papillon, Gorron
A pub-style spot by the lake with pizzas, daily specials and genuinely British Fish & Chips — tried and approved! Takeaway is available too, ideal for a cosy evening back at Nid Nomade.
Ô Fées Tout, Levare
Traditional home-style cooking with an all-you-can-eat buffet in a friendly, fuss-free setting. All ingredients are locally sourced, with themed meals offered monthly.
